Despite saying they’d leave Washington and Colorado alone, the Obama administration really hasn’t. And the DEA’s policies and invasion of patient rights in all medical marijuana state remains a serious issue and an affront to anyone in America that smokes and supports cannabis.
Look no further than the ‘Kettle Falls 5′ case to see a hard example of how the federal government still abuses its power by invading and interfering with medical marijuana states. It’s scary that an honest, good family of five may face life in prison for growing 70 plants of cannabis. But it’s a reality.
However, on May 19, a bill will be up for vote in Congress to end this injustice and stop the federal authorities from imposing their will on medical marijuana states once and for all. Thus, to coincide with this vote, a petition has been launched that will hopefully show the House where the people stand.
Here is the scoop:
Polls show that supermajorities of American voters support medical marijuana and letting states implement their own laws on this issue without harassment from the federal government. The U.S. House will soon vote on whether to prevent the DEA from continuing to interfere with patients’ access to medical marijuana in states where it’s legal. Please do the right thing and vote YES for this sensible amendment to the Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations bill. Doctors should be able to recommend marijuana to seriously ill patients in accordance with state laws without federal law enforcement standing in the way.
Please take a moment to show your support and SIGN the Change.org petition to hopefully impact this decision and show solidarity.
